I hope you had a blessed Easter! In this strange time, Jesus is still Emanuel- God with us. I pray you seek Him because He's right here, doing amazing things. Jesus said that we'd have trouble in this world but not to fear- because He has overcome the world.
The night before Easter, our family of four watched the first movie in the Narnia series. Watching on Easter weekend, and in this upside world, it seemed to bring home to all of us so many truths about Christ coming to a world, barren and frozen in fear. Just as happened 2000 yrs ago, someone has to pay the price for my sin- for your sin. And so Jesus did. And for a few days, it seemed as if the enemy had won. But then...suddenly, Jesus broke through death victoriously. This is painted so beautifully through Aslan as he breaks the stone he lay dead upon. After tears of joy, Lucy and Susan race toward the battle on his back, where he defeats the white witch. Later, breaths life into all who were killed in battle.
This is such a broken world. Sin, illness, abuse of local government power, economic woes, wars, disasters, killing of the innocent...this has been happening for centuries. It is not the world He originally created for us, but because sin entered, it pretty much is a place of "always winter, never Christmas"- at least compared the Garden of Eden. And it especially can feel that way right now. The good news is- this is no longer our true home. While we do what we can here and now, our forever home is more joyful than we can ever imagine. But we're not left alone waiting- He is with us now.
